[02/14/2005] Chiapas Rock Show -- Sussex County Rockers help raise money!
Hello and Welcome everyone. Let me guess what you are all thinking... An Update? what? That's right! It's a real update on the Chiapas Project website. So, what has the Chiapas Project been up to? Well, I'm glad you asked. On Friday, February 11th, 2005, Sussex county's finest headbangers and rockers took to the stage to raise money for the project.

The First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, New Jersey, was kind enough to lend thier recreation hall to the Wrobel brothers, Robert & Stanley, who organized the event. The show was headlined by Flying at Hendon, Byron Dean, and The Mock Agreement. The event brought together around an estimated 125 people and raised $635. This money will be used to pruchase medicine and other supplies for the upcoming trips down to Octopec. The Chiapas Project would just like to thank all the bands for performing, The First Presbyterian Church of Sparta, and everyone who went out of thier way to stop by and make a donation.

[7/13/2002] Winter 2003 Trip Dates
Set
The winter 2003 trip will take place March 15-22. Mark
your calendars now!
[6/11/2002] The
next mission to Ocotepec will take place August 17-24, 2002.
We are actively recruiting volunteers and donations.
While we have fewer volunteers traveling from the U.S., there
are several more Mexicans becoming involved with the effort.
Sister Ernestinas nephew and niece, both medical doctors
in Mexico City, will travel with their two daughters to Chiapas
to volunteer. Dr. Aquino, his brother-in-law Luis, also a
dentist, and Dr. Willie, a surgeon, will drive
from Tuxtla Gutierrez to Ocotepec. Additionally, our student-friends,
Alonso and Yasser, have been actively recruiting their buddies
to spend a week serving the people of Ocotepec.
Our main needs right now are more medical/dental personnel,
more donations of medicines, and monetary donations, which
will allow us to purchase medical supplies in Mexico and to
buy food for the student-volunteers. All American volunteers
pay their own expenses for the privilege of helping the poor.
